Round Three ~ National QuadMX ~ Motorcross valley ~ Zululand ~ 3 May 2008
Motocross Valley ~ Zululand.
The trip started off bad for us as we hit a pothole on the way down to Kwazulu-Natal. We broke two 22" wheels on my Hummer. Not a pretty site. We did make it down due to the help of a fellow racer ~ Faisel! Thanks again man, I owe you!
Nothing can prepare you for what must be the most awsome track in South Africa. Nestled between sugar cane fields this track has the most beautifull location.
Beauty aside ~ this is one hectic track. We saw the most accidents/falls ever over this racing weekend. We hope you all recover quickly.
The worst fall was by our own #552 Vincent "Smiley" Fernandes. Vince fell on the big step down right in front of our pit area. many people said it's the worst fall they've ever seen in 10-15 years of racing. Without going into to much detail we can say that the little PORRA is made from steel. The bike's axle got bent on his leg!! He walked away without any broken bones. The bike cart wheeled landed on his head and then over on to his leg. He is recovering quickly and will most probably be ready for the ALKMAAR national.
Brett van Rooyen rode like a demon and the second heat in the Pro-450 class was his best race so far this season!! Keep in mind that we are still developing the KFX450R and that the other brands of 450's in his class have long been sorted. Brett stood his man finished forth in that heat and ended up 6th for the day.
Stephanie rode well but then she heart her wrist on the whoop section at the back of the track. She decided not to ride the second heat. She has recovered and she's ready for ALKMAAR!!
The most exciting class is the high school class! These 15-18 year olds have no brains...... they know only one thing and that's FULL THROTTLE!!!!!! Wesley Sham #42 made us proud by finishing 2nd for the day and by doing this he moved into the LEAD for the national championship. The next rider is two points behind Wesley. This was done on a BOG standard LTR450. No hot piston, no TFI, no CAMS just a Uni-Filter, a LRD race pipe and BALLS of steel!
Well done to all riders!
We cannot wait to see you all again at the Next National to be held at ALKMAAR raceway on the 7th of June 2008.
Ps..........cannot wait to see Wesley's new HOT LTR in action!
